Mark J. Nunez, DVM
Dr. Nunez is an LSU graduate, class of 2002. Prior to veterinary school he spent 6 years in the US Air Force and 3 years in the US Army National Guard. He is originally from South Louisiana and has lived and practiced in New York for the past 20 years.
Dr. Nunez was the owner, senior veterinary partner, and medical director of 2 animal hospitals on Long Island, NY - Levittown Animal Hospital and Farmingdale Dog and Cat Clinic. Over the past 20 years he has provided top notch care for his patients in an innovative, caring environment that fostered team collaboration and cutting edge thinking. Levittown Animal Hospital was voted the best animal hospital on Long Island since 2012, and Dr. Nunez has won the honor of best veterinarian for 4 of the past 10 years, with the latest year being 2022. Dr. Nunez has mentored many students, LVTs, and DVMs over his 20-year career.
Dr. Nunez is responsible for many firsts in the industry: He established a 4-day work week for his team in 2012, and created a workplace that values the opinions and insights of all team members. Dr. Nunez was also the first veterinarian on Long Island to become certified in Low Stress Handling and have the first Low Stress Handling Certified Hospital on Long Island.
After practicing for 20 years, Dr. Nunez recognized an exponential increase in the cost of veterinary services, as well as very long wait times (his practices were booked weeks in advance, an increasingly common phenomenon in veterinary medicine). This led to the creation of Virtual Vet Care! His top goals are helping patients by providing better access to care, creating an outstanding virtual experience for his clients, and developing long-term relationships with his clients and patients.
