What Exactly is Triage?
Triage is the preliminary assessment of your pet to determine whether your pet’s condition is non-urgent, urgent, or potentially an emergency. It is not always easy to tell if a pet is having an emergency, as some serious health issues or injuries might not immediately become apparent, or the signs may be recognizable only to a licensed veterinarian. In potentially serious situations, triage can be lifesaving.
Once we are able to triage your pet, we can then do a more complete assessment and offer recommendations for their treatment. If we think your pet’s condition is emergent, we will recommend taking them to the nearest emergency animal hospital immediately.
If you suspect your pet has an emergency before getting in touch with us, contact or head over to the nearest ER so your pet can receive prompt care.
